FAQs

How do you set up and record?

Depending on your facility, we’ll find a good open space (possibly your stage) and set up our portable isolation booth.  We’ll put your drum set in the booth and then all the other instruments in close proximity.  Each musician will have their own headphone mix to monitor what they’re hearing.  After we record the music tracks we will clear the drums out of the isolation booth and set it up to record vocals.

How long does the recording take?

After setting up (which usually takes about an hour) it will take about an hour to set monitor mixes and get everyone comfortable. Then we will record several “takes” of a song until we’re satisfied we’ve captured everyone’s best performance.  This process usually takes about 45 minutes per song.  Then vocals for each song will take about an hour per song.  So a 5 song EP will require a day and a half of recording.  A full 10 song project will take two and half days of recording.

How soon will I get my finished tracks?

It takes about 3 weeks after recording the tracks to finish editing and do final mixes.  Once the final mixes are approved it will take a week to have the tracks mastered.

What is Mastering?

Mastering is the process where all the songs are maximized for volume and their relative volume to each other.  Also, the EQ (bass, mid and high frequencies) are set to sound cohesive to the other songs.  The overall “sound” of the project is made “radio play ready.”

What if we want to add instrumentation?

There would be additional charges involved but we can help fill in any musical “gaps” as you desire.  We can add percussion loops, add additional keyboard sounds & stack guitar parts as needed.

How do we get CD’s duplicated?

We don’t provide this service but we recommend 2 companies that have reproduced our own projects over the years.  Disc Makers and Nationwide Disc are both reputable companies and do great work.  Here are their websites:

How do we get the artwork done for the CD’s?

Artwork is the responsibility of the artist/church to produce.  The CD replicating companies have templates for the layout of the artwork.  If you need assistance in the design and layout of your projects graphic look, we have graphic artists that can help with that.  They can guide you through the process of what you need to consider as well as giving great looking designs to complete the packing.  Normally it is around $300 for a basic cover design.  This does not include photography which is also the responsibility of the artist / church to supply to the graphic artists.

How can we get our songs on iTunes, Spotify and other digital stores and streaming services?

Again this is the responsibility of the artist / church but their are several services we recommend to assist in this process.
